The Fairy Godmother Program
About The Fairy Godmother Program
Established in 2010, The Fairy Godmother Program is the newest initiative of The Princess Shop. The purpose of the program is to provide Princess Graduates who have participated in The Princess Shop’s Dress Program with the opportunity to build a relationship with a role model or mentor. These role models, known as Fairy Godmothers, are female volunteers from the community are established in their own lives and careers, and wish to make a difference in the lives of young women.
This program recognizes the importance of role models in the development of self-confident and independent young women. The Fairy Godmother Program aims to positively impact the lives of young women, and contribute to their successful transition from high school to future success. Also, because of the strong influence a woman has within her family, a positive impact on a woman also affects her family and, ultimately, our entire community.
The program’s mission is to provide the Princesses with the needed self-awareness, self-confidence, motivation, and life skills to accomplish their goals, and the Fairy Godmother provides encouragement and support in bringing these ambitions to reality. It is our hope that the Princesses and their respective Godmothers develop a relationship that, whether it lasts a year or a lifetime, will enrich the lives of both.
The Fairy Godmother Program successfully completed phase 1 of its two-phase pilot during the 2010 grad season with four matches.
The Fairy Godmother Program is currently in phase 2 of the two-phase pilot with twelve matches.
