Second Anniversary

This Saturday, November 21 marked the two-year anniversary of the inception of The Princess Shop. To commemorate its second anniversary, The Princess Shop would like to extend gratitude to our Saskatchewan community for the continued support that the organization receives.

During The Princess Shop’s second high school graduation season in June 2009, the program had created an exciting, affirming day for 55 Princesses – an increase of 41 percent from last year, bringing the organization’s total impact to 94 female youth. The organization’s second year in operation also marked the announcement of The Princess Shop’s scholarship program, with the donation of a full esthetician program scholarship (valued at $10,000) by Spa Academy. The Princess Shop also holds an annual benefit to raise funds for operations, and a year-end appreciation barbeque with members from the business community and several recently graduated Princesses and their families at the Forestry Farm. The Princess Shop now has over 700 grad dresses in inventory and 2100 members in its Facebook group.

Special Dress Donations!

Thanks to the continued support and donations from members of our community, as well as some very special donations, The Princess Shop continues to build a varied inventory of dresses that is sure to meet the needs of almost any graduate.

Jessica Bridal, located at 234 1st Ave S in Saskatoon, recently donated 10 brand-new dresses to The Princess Shop’s inventory. We are very excited about establishing and fostering relationships like this with small businesses in our community. Thank you, Jessica Bridal!

Buy Insurance Salvage.com is a web-based company that sells insurance salvage on behalf of insurance companies. Buy Insurance Salvage.com recently donated 80 new formal dresses, as well as some new shoes, purses and gloves. This substantial donation is very exciting as The Princess Shop continues to increase its impact each year, and this continues to require a larger inventory of dresses. Thank you, Buy Insurance Salvage.com!

The Princess Shop’s New Home

On a sweltering day in July, Chantal and I rounded up some friends, and with the help and wonderful generosity of Saskatoon Movers, moved our entire inventory, office supplies, and furniture to our new home! We are very excited to announce that while there is still much to be done before the coming graduation season, we are settling in… and that we will be here for the next two years!

Huge thanks to Saskatoon Movers! Your willingness to assist The Princess Shop with this move made the day so much easier, and the moving process a lot faster.

Our new home: 12-1622 Ontario Avenue, Saskatoon SK

2nd Annual Perfectly Pink Appreciation BBQ – canceled

The 2nd Annual Perfectly Pink Appreciation BBQ was scheduled to take place on Tuesday July 7, 2009 at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm. Unfortunately, the BBQ was canceled due to a terrible thunder and rainstorm that day. The Princess Shop would like to recognize the title sponsor of this year’s Perfectly Pink Appreciation BBQ, Meyers Norris Penny. Terri Deiner from MNP worked in coordination with The Princess Shop’s Co-Founders to recoup the food costs and save the day: the food that was to be served at the BBQ was instead served for lunch at MNP, in return for donations. The Princess Shop extends sincere gratitude to MNP for their consideration .

Since we had already ordered food from a local caterer, we had a ton of food to get rid of and no one to eat it. Terri Diener from MNP and The Princess Shop’s co-founders came up with a plan to serve the food in the staff room at Meyers Norris Penny. Their employees graciously made donations to enjoy the meal. Because of MNP’s help, we were able to recoup the food costs. We are very excited to continue to grow our relationship with MNP in many forms.

2nd Annual Perfectly Pink Appreciation BBQ

perfectly_pink_small

The Princess Shop’s 2nd Annual Perfectly Pink Appreciation BBQ is on Tuesday July 7, 2009 at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm!  Perfectly Pink is an opportunity for all Princesses, their families, sponsors, board members, volunteers, and all of The Princess Shop’s friends to enjoy an afternoon of fun, visiting, and celebrating another great year for The Princess Shop’s.  It is called an “appreciation BBQ” because it is an opportunity to showcase the impact of the graduation season first-hand to all supporters/sponsors present by having Princesses and their families attend.  At the BBQ, we all have a chance to thank those who played a part in the successful implementation of the dress program this year.  We will have some fun in the afternoon, including a ball game, then share a summer meal.
