posted by The Princess Shop    |   March 16, 2016 21:51

The Princess Shop is thrilled to be putting on the 9th Annual Glass Slipper Benefit for Princesses on April 7th, 2016! The Glass Slipper benefit is such an important evening of celebrating the success of each of our Princess Graduates over the years, as well as it's our biggest fundraiser of the year! At just over 70% sold out, ticket sales are closing in - but there's still time to get yours! Get your ticket before you miss out!

As we prepared for our big night, we sat down with our lovely and talented Glass Slipper Coordinator, Brittney Witte, to ask her what she's most looking forward to on our big night! "I’m so grateful to have the chance to coordinate an event for such a giving and unique organization. The volunteers I spend time with are all so caring, and beautiful inside and out, and it will be so rewarding to see the efforts of our time come to life for one magical evening", Witte said, "The Glass Slipper is going to be an elegant and exciting occasion sponsored by many fantastic companies. It takes the support of an entire community to put together an event like this". When asked the things she's most looking forward to, Brittney gushed about the live and silent auction with over 100 packages, catered dinner and dessert by Cakes by Kait, and entertainment by Mo’ LoveLastly, she said she's most excited for our Keynote Speaker. Cara, a former Princess Graduate is a persevering, strong, young woman with an amazing story to tell. We can’t wait for her to share her journey with all of you!

As a new feature of the Glass Slipper Benefit, we are so excited to have the support of Saskatchewan's own Hillberg and Berk jewellery company! Follow our facebook page and get your tickets today to find out how you can win 1 of 10 pairs of sparkle ball earrings, a $500 Hillberg and Berk gift card, or a luxury jewellery set worth over $895!!!

For those sweet toothes in the crowd, Cakes by Kait is run by a very talented woman, Kaitlyn Bowman. Kait's baking is as sweet as she is. We can't wait to try the cupcakes that she's baking for the Glass Slipper Benefit, but for now, we'll keep the flavour a secret. :)

The Glass Slipper Benefit is just 3 WEEKS AWAY and we are over 70% sold out! Get your tickets today to be a part of Saskatoon's most magical evening. And as a bonus, you can feel great knowing that your contribution is going towards providing graduation, mentorship, and scholarship opportunities to young women right here in Saskatoon.

From Brittney, and the rest of The Princess Shop Team, we'll see you there!

The Princess Shop's Mentorship Program Hosts Clarity Coaching

posted by The Princess Shop    |   February 28, 2016 11:15

The Princess Shop is most well known as a Saskatoon non-profit that runs an incredible grad dress program. What many don't know is that we also have a mentorship program called The Fairy Godmother Program. The purpose of the Fairy Godmother Program is to provide Princess Graduates who have participated in The Princess Shop's Dress Program with the opportunity to build a positive relationship with another woman in our community. These women, known as Fairy Godmothers, are volunteers who are established and stable in their own lives and wish to make a difference in the lives of young women. Each month during the school year the fairy godmothers and their princess graduates participate in a group activity. This month we welcomed Jolene Watson of Clarity Coaching to present to our wonderful matches!!

Jolene led the group through a one hour condensed version of the Myers Briggs personality assessment. It was an evening of self-discovery, instilling confidence in our young women to take the first steps into the dreams and goals they have personally set.

Each session went through a series of explanations and examples of the 8 different core facets of personality, encouraging better self-awareness in many areas of life. There was even some laughter amongst the matches as they discovered which of the 16 personality types they best identified with.

Jolene also provided the group with great stress relieving tactics to help diminish the daily worries we face. She left the group with a practical challenge. After each person discovered their personality type and learned about how their type interacts with others, they committed to one daily change in their behavior with a goal of fostering more positive relationships.

With only one activity remaining in the program, we are sad to see the year come to an end. However, we are excited for relationships to continue and to see everyone again in the summer as we start a new cycle and welcome new participants to the program.

Applications for new entrants to the Fairy Godmother Program will open in April. We look forward to meeting you!

Much Love,

Your Fairy Godmother Program Coordinator

-Kayla

“It was such an honor to present to the members of the Fairy Godmother Program for The Princess Shop this past week. The group was so inspiring and engaging; I look forward to hearing about the multiple success stories that will come out of the incredible mentorship opportunities being provided.”

The Princess Shop Welcomes New Volunteers for the New Year!

posted by The Princess Shop    |   December 16, 2015 15:47

Like most non-profit organizations, the heartbeat of what we do is fueled by the energy and selflessness of the volunteeers who give their time to us week after week. 2015 has been a big year for The Princess Shop, we've had many successes along the way. But like anything we've also had our challenges, and this year that meant finding the right volunteers to carry forward our mission of being one of Saskatoon's BEST non-profit organizations

Good things come to those who wait, which is why we are so excited to announce the newest Princess Shop volunteers, Morgan McEachern (Volunteer Representative), Chandra Groves (Communications Coordinator), and Kim Julicher (Fundraising Coordinator).

Meet the lovely Morgan McEachern. Morgan, originally from small-town Lanigan, Saskatchewan relocated to Saskatoon for University in 2013. Morgan is one of those people that warms up the room with her smile, and makes those around her feel welcome and comfortable, all great attributes for our Volunteer Representative position!

Morgan is as bright as she is warm, as she is currently working towards both a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the Edwards School of Business. Outside of her studies, and volunteer work with The Princess Shop in Saskatoon, she is also employed by the University of Saskatchewan's Science Outreach Program teaching Math and Science concepts in community schools in Saskatoon. She is delighted to be contributing to The Princess Shop community so she can make a difference in the lives of young women in Saskatoon.

Chandra Groves joins The Princess Shop team in the role of Volunteer Communications Coordinator. She's followed the success of The Princess Shop as a great Saskatoon organization, and has seen the impact that it has made in the community over the years. Chandra said when the opportunity presented itself to join, she knew it was the perfect way to play a part in giving back to our community, while utilizing her strengths as a Communications professional. Chandra attained degrees in business and communications from the University of Jamestown in North Dakota in 2009 where she played on a volleyball scholarship. She has spent the last 6 years cultivating as many opportunities for professional growth as possible; from opening a business here in Saskatoon, to documenting her world travels with her own travel blog and website (www.chandragroves.com), to continuing education with a graphic design course in the summer of 2015. Chandra is a self-proclaimed hoarder of experiences. She loves to do photography, write, play music, and she loves pretty much every outdoor adventure. If she's not exploring the land of living skies, you will often find her with a backpack or a snowboard in the Rocky Mountains.

And last, but certainly not least, we are so excited to be welcoming Kim Julicher our new Fundraising Coordinator. Kim was born and raised in Saskatoon and attended post secondary studies for Food and Hospitality Management in BC. She has since returned home to Saskatoon where she is the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager at the Saskatoon Club. Kim is an extremely hard worker and she loves having the ability to work and volunteer with  groups that offer a positive social outlet for a great purpose. Kim is thrilled to be joining The Princess Shop in Saskatoon as the volunteer Fundraising Coordinator. Outside of work and volunteering, her passions include cultural exploration- both local and international, and her friends and family.

We are still looking to fill two of our Volunteer Roles for 2016. To learn more about this great organization and how you can get involved, contact us today! As always, find us on facebook, twitter, and instagram to stay up to date on the latest and greatest Princess Shop happenings.
